When an average JetBlue passenger of Arabic descent was attempting to board a plane, he was stopped and given special treatment. The TSA officials noticed his shirt, which had Arabic writing on it, as well as the words “We Will Not Be Silent” in English written across it. The TSA Officials did not allow Raed Jarrar to board the plane with that shirt on, claiming that it was offensive to surrounding passengers. When Mr. Jarrar brought his right into the conversation, the TSA Officials ripped his ticket and gave him a seat on the back of the plane after he agreed to wear a sweatshirt on top of it. This is social injustice because it shows severe racial profiling. A person cannot be judged for his race. If the same message was written in French, it would not have been judged. Such profiling against race is unconstitutional.
In Richmond Virginia, a high school art teacher was fired for his past time activities. Mr. Murmer, the art teacher, had a unique painting style. He liked to use his body parts to spread paint across the canvas, such as his buttocks. A demonstration of his painting techniques aired on television three years ago, and became something of interest to the students. Mr. Murmer was later fired when a copy of the video was uploaded to Youtube because of his painting technique. This is social injustice since what Mr. Murmer does outside of school and in his past time is strictly his business. The school has no authority over his activities and cannot evaluate him on it. By doing so, the school is able to manipulate Mr. Murmer’s hours spend outside of school also.
